Mediating Effect of Covert Narcissism in The relation of Overprotective Parenting and Relationship Addiction

Abstract

|
The purpose of this study was to investigate mediating effect of covert narcissism in the relation of overprotective parenting of parents and relationship addiction. The total of 500 university students completed measure of Parental Bonding Instrument, Covert Narcissism Scale, Relationship Addiction Scale and analyzed 384 data, except for one-parent family and having no experience of love. The data was examined to varify study model using SPSS for basic statistic analysis and AMOS for structural equation model analysis. The result were as followings: First, the overprotective parenting, covert narcissism and relationship addiction showed positive correlation. Second, covert narcissism was partially mediated the relationship between overprotective parenting and relationship addiction. Finally, the implication and this study and suggestion for further study were discussed.
